The Vancouver Canucks’ (7-3-3, t-3rd Pacific Division) started their week continuing with a 6-game homestand beginning with games against the Calgary Flames on November 12th, New York Islanders on November 14th, Chicago Blackhawks on November 16th, and Nashville Predators on November 17th.
Games of The Week
- November 12th vs. Calgary Flames (3-1 Win):
- Elias Pettersson led the Canucks with a goal, on the power play and an assist. Pius Suter scored his 6th goal of the season to tie him with Brock Boeser for the team lead in goals scored.
- Erik Brannstrom had a goal and an assist for Vancouver. J.T. Miller contributed two assists for the Canucks.
- Jonathan Lekkerimäki made his NHL debut and played 14:07. He had 2 shots and 20 shifts in the game, and he registered one hit.
- Starting goalie Kevin Lankinen made 38 saves on 29 shots faced for the Canucks. Calgary goalie Dan Vladar stopped 29 of 32 shots.
- November 14rh vs. New York Islanders (5-2 Loss):
- Jonathan Lekkerimäki’s first NHL goal gave Canucks an early 1-0 lead. Islanders tied the game on a power play with just 2:37 remaining in the period, Jean-Gabriel Pageau scoring.
- The Islanders seized control of the game early in the second period with a quick two-goal burst.
- In the final period, the Islanders outscored Vancouver 2-1, winning 5-2.
- Canuck goalie Kevin Lankinen stopped 27 of 31 shots, while Islanders goalie Semyon Varlamov stopped 24 of 26 shots.
- November 16th vs. Chicago Blackhawks (4-1 Win):
- Erik Brannstrom scored the game-winning goal. J.T. Miller had a goal and an assist. Elias Pettersson and Teddy Blueger had a goal each.
- Quinn Hughes, Jake DeBrusk, Pius Suter, Danton Heinen, and Kiefer Sherwood contributed an assist.
- The game was a homecoming for North Vancouver native Blackhawk Connor Bedard
- Arvid Soderblom made 29 saves on 31 shots for Chicago.
- Canucks’ goalie Arturs Silovs was the winning goaltender, making 28 saves on 29 shots for his first win since October 30th.
- November 17 vs Nashville Predators (5-3 Loss):
- Predators opened the scoring and Canucks scored early in last half if the period with Aatu Räty ‘s first of the season.
- Second Period, Elias Pettersson gave Canucks an 2-1 lead before the Predators scored 3-consecutive goal in just over minutes to take control.
- In the final period, Kiefer Sherwood would score with 6 minutes in the final period left, but with the goalie out, Predators sealed the game in an empty net.
- Juuse Saros stopped 24 of 27 shots for Nashville, and Kevin Lankinen stopped 16 of 20 shots.
Overall
One word sums up the Canucks week: inconsistency.
