KHL Game Day Preview | September 28, 2022

SKA faces Admiral at home trying to build a new streak

The KHL matchday starts in Chelyabinsk, with Traktor facing Kunlun Red Star – both teams are on the lookout for a win, with the Chelyabinsk side losing to Ak Bars on Sunday, and the Dragons on a three-match losing streak.

The action then moves westward, where Lokomotiv hosts Torpedo. The two teams have a diametrical opposite approach to the game, with the Igor Nikitin’s men playing a more conservative style and Igor Larionov’s creative ideas bringing Torpedo to the fourth place in the Western Conference’s standings so far.

Another exciting game will be the showdown of Spartak and Barys. Both teams are riding hot goalies between the piping, with Patrik Rybar and Nikita Boryakin both on shutout streaks and among the leaders in goalkeeping stats. In St. Petersburg, SKA welcomes Admiral trying to build a new winning streak after defeating Torpedo on Monday.

An evening confrontation of HC Sochi and Dinamo Minsk closes an action-packed KHL Wednesday – the Andrei Nazarov’s men are on a six-game losing streak and will want to get the best of Craig Woodcroft’s squad. But it won’t be easy – the Belarusians are showing good hockey so far, and they will want to return to victory after losing twice in a row.
