Alaska Aces End Three Game Skid With 5-0 Shutout Over Wichita Thunder Saturday Night

The Alaska Aces (7-4-0-1) took on the Wichita Thunder (7-4-0-0) last night, in the second game of three this weekend, and shutout the Thunder 5-0, in Wichita.

The win ended a three game skid, and the Aces jumped into 3rd place in the Mountain division, 5 points behind the Idaho Steelheads, with four games in hand on Idaho.

Vancouver Canucks prospect and Aces goalie Michael Garteig stopped 36 shots for his first professional shutout, improving his record to 6-1 on the season. It was his first start since returning to the club from the Vancouver Canucks.

Garteig improved his GAA to 2.15 (6th in ECHL), and his SV% to .930 (4th in ECHL).

Goals came from Danny Moynihan, with two; Tommy Olczyk, Stephen Perfetto, and Tim Wallace. Tim Coffman had three assists, and Wallace also chipped in with two assists.

Alaska outshot Wichita 40-36 for the game.

The Aces complete their three-game series Sunday at 4:05pm Central, 1:05pm Alaska time.
