The Vancouver Canucks played a tight, controlled game against the Edmonton Oilers at Roger’s Place in their last road match in preseason, taking the game all the way to a shootout before surrendering a tough 3-2 SO loss, on September 30, 2024.
Canucks had goals from Arshdeep Bains and Nate Smith, and Kevin Lankinen made 24 saves for the Canucks (2-2-1).
Corey Perry and Ben Gleason scored, and Stuart Skinner made 21 saves for the Oilers (3-3-0).
Bains gave the Canucks a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 5:53 of the second period.
The Oilers would come back in the 3rd period, taking a 2-1 advantage before the halfway point of the period, when Nathan Smith tied it 2-2 just 19 seconds later with a redirection in front of the Oiler net.
Final Preseason Action Looms
Vancouver plays the Oilers at home Friday night at Roger’s Arena in their final 2024 preseason match before opening their 2024-25 season.
2024-25 Season Opens At Home
The Canucks open their 2024-25 season with two home games, on October 9 against Calgary and October 11 against Philadelphia.
On The Road Again …
Vancouver then embarks on a 4-game road trip starting in Florida against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 15th and the Florida Panthers on October 17th.
The Canucks then complete their trip with visits to the Philadelphia Flyers on the 19th, finishing up against the Chicago Blackhawks on the 22nd before returning to Vancouver.
