On May 12, I wrote about my thoughts on the Canucks video campaign to attract and keep season ticket holders.
I mocked it. Didn’t think much of it. Looks good on paper. The video is nice. But does it really work. Can human beings do it, game in, and game out??
STRUCTURE
HABITS
STANDARDS
It seems apt to bring this up, considering the reaction to the Canucks last game in Philadelphia when the team abandoned their goalie and were present in body…. but did not really care to show up and sent their body doubles instead.
Except Thatcher Demko, who did not get the memo, and answered the bell, lunch bucket, equipment and all, to play the game, and he did it all , except score goals, to keep his team in the game, and give them a chance to win.
But the real Vancouver Canucks, who defeated the Edmonton Oilers two games straight to start the season, were replaced by poor doubles, maybe Aliens.
So, what do the Canucks suggest they do to get back on track starting now, with the Tampa Bay Lightning waiting in the stands to hand Vancouver a smacking or get smacked, depending which Vancouver team shows up Thursday night??
They want to “press accountability.” I didn’t realize accountability took a rest. I am accountable for everything I say, do, not do, not say, think, not think—it does not end—my actions, lack of action—are also made accountable.
Does this edition of the Vancouver Canucks really care that they embarrassed themselves, their bosses, the die hard Canucks fans, their wives, children, partners, parents.
Well, my wife tells me that when it comes to talking, I have no problem doing that. Actions, though… speak louder than words and can bite you in the arse.
So, are the Vancouver Canucks going to do the biting and tear up the Lightning?
Or are Tampa Bay Lightning going to be the big dog, with the big fight, and show the Canucks the exit door?
Just saying….and waiting….
Signed,
Die Hard Canucks Fan
