2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship game schedule released

The International Ice Hockey Federation has released the game schedule for the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

“We have created the schedule to offer attractive games to fans every day, not to disadvantage anyone, and to ensure everything proceeds according to sports regulations.” comments Jan Černý, General Secretary of the Czech Ice Hockey Association.

Opening Games

Czechia will play their opening game against Finland in Prague Arena on Friday, 10 May at 20:20 local time. Switzerland-Norway will play the first game in the afternoon.
The other teams in Group A will start the tournament the following day with the games Great Britain-Canada, Austria-Denmark, and Norway-Czechia.

In Ostrava Arena, Slovakia will play Germany in the Group B opening game on Friday, 10 May at 16:20 local time and Sweden will meet the USA in the evening.
The next day, France-Kazakhstan, Poland-Latvia, and USA-Germany will be played at Ostrava Arena.

“We hope that Ostrava will be crowded with hockey fans just like in 2015. We are looking forward to having a great atmosphere again.” says Aleš Pavlík, President of the Organizing Committee in Ostrava.

The group stages and two quarter-finals will be played at each venue.

The semi-finals, the Bronze and Gold Medal Games will take place in the Prague Arena.

In case of the promotion from the group stage, the host Czechia will play their quarter-finals on Thursday, May 23, in Prague at 20:20 local time, and the semi-finals on Saturday, May 25, at 14:20 local time.
