Japan won the Placement Round of the 2022 Women’s World Hockey Championship to take 5th place while Finland finishes in 6th Place with the loss.

It’s the highest placing ever for Japan in the Women’s Worlds, and the lowest ever for Finland, which between 1990 and 2021 had never finished worse than fourth.

Finland will be in Group B next year along with Sweden, Hungary, Germany and France.

Japan will be joining the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Czechia in Group A at next year’s Women’s World Hockey Championship.
