KHL Game Day Preview | September 19, 2022

Avangard seeking its second straight win in Chelyabinsk!

The KHL Monday starts in the Far East, with Salavat Yulaev and Metallurg continuing their tour – if Magnitka has been quite successful, the Ufa side is on a losing streak, and risks to go even deeper in the standings as it faces Amur today. Admiral is currently – quite surprisingly – the third seed of the Eastern Conference, and it won’t be easy for Metallurg today.

In Chelyabinsk, Traktor hosts Avangard for a Russian hockey classic matchup. Both teams had a rocky start – especially Avangard – but are now seeking for new victories. The Hawks had their first win on Friday, and today they may reach two, but Traktor will not let them win just because – the temperature will be high at the Chelyabinsk Arena.

In the Western Conference, Torpedo hosts Vityaz, while Dynamo Moscow welcomes Lokomotiv. Vityaz slowed down after a fantastic start, thus giving Torpedo a small advantage. The Igor Larionov’s men keep on showing good hockey and achieved another victory on Friday, when they defeated Spartak in OT, with a tally by Kenny Agostino.

The Blue-and-Whites are currently the second seed in the West, but lost to SKA on Friday. They will seek revenge today as they host Lokomotiv in another classic clash.

KHL Game Day Preview | September 18, 2022

CSKA, SKA seeking victories on home soil!

The action-packed KHL matchday starts in Kazakhstan, with Barys hosting Sibir. The Kazakhs didn’t have a good start of the season, and also lost on Avangard on Friday. On the other hand, Sibir is currently the third force in the East and will want to keep on pushing to propel its excellent start.

The action then moves to the Urals, where a red-hot Avtomobilist hosts a slumping Neftekhimik. It may look like a one-sided matchup, but the Wolves one day will get a win, and the Nikolai Zavarukhin’s men will try not to be that team.

In the West, both CSKA and SKA hit the ice tonight with home games. The reigning Gagarin Cup champions host HC Sochi – they won 26 out of 27 games against the Black Sea franchise and it’s likely that the series will continue. SKA will have a more complicated matchup when they host Severstal. The St. Petersburg side is the only KHL team who is yet to lose a game, while Severstal is currently the sixth feed in the West. However, SKA will have to lose one day, will it be today?

Another exciting Moscow showdown sees Spartak hosting Ak Bars. The two teams are in opposite conditions – Spartak started well and slowed down, while Kazan struggled early, but is currently on a winning streak. Will Alex Radulov score another game-winner tonight?
