      • J.T. Miller had a goal and two assists, leading the Canucks’ attack. He was a game-time decision due to an undisclosed injury, but he played and played well!
      • Danton Heinen scored twice for Vancouver.
      • Conor Garland had a goal and an assist, continuing his strong start to the season.
      • Quinn Hughes and Kiefer Sherwood each contributed two assists.
      • Kevin Lankinen was solid in net, making 31 saves.
      • This win marked the Canucks’ third straight victory and a successful end to their four-game road trip.
      • They showed resilience and offensive firepower, overcoming a slow start to the season.
  • October 26th vs. Pittsburgh (4-3 Win):
    • The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Penguins on home ice on Saturday, October 26, extending their winning streak to four games.
    • Arshdeep Bains scored his first NHL goal! The local boy from Surrey, BC, capitalized on a rebound for the game-winning goal in front of his parents. This was a special moment for Bains, the team and fans.
    • Elias Pettersson, Kiefer Sherwood, and J.T. Miller also scored for the Canucks. The team showed offensive depth with contributions from all four lines.
    • Kevin Lankinen made 21 saves for his fourth win of the season.
    • Tyler Myers celebrated his 1000th NHL game. The veteran defenseman received a silver stick in an on-ice ceremony with his family and teammates looking on in support.

Key Takeaways

  • Resilience: Bouncing back in the Pittsburgh game with 4 consecutive goals shows again the Canucks have some fight in them to respond in front of home town fans and take back home ice advantage.
  • Goaltending Depth: Kevin Lankinen has provided the Canucks with secure goaltending in regulation and in extra time early in the season, giving the Canucks confidence in net. This has enabled Arturs Silovs to take advantage of extra mentorship and Thatcher Demko to take as much time as he needs to get to return to game shape.
  • Miller, Boeser, Pettersson, Garland: The players seem to be either in a groove or finding their game with another week of clutch plays.
  • Secondary Scoring: Arshdeep Bains, Teddy Blueger, Kiefer Sherwood, Danton Heinen, and Pius Suter have contributed with goals; strong play in offensive end and stalwart defensive support.

Overall

The continuation of the winning streak this week has brought excitement and optimism to Canucks fans.

The team is showing a strong offensive game and continued solid goaltending, with strong efforts from all players pulling together to fulfill the game plan. Still work to be done and things tweaked. Most important is to keep moving forward, not backward.
