The Vancouver Canucks (1-1-2, t-6th Pacific Division) face off against the Philadelphia Flyers (1-2-1, 8th Metropolitan Division) tonight at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

The Canucks are coming off a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers, while the Flyers are looking to break a three-game losing streak. Their only win coming from defeating the Canucks in Vancouver on October 11, 3-2 in a shootout.

Vancouver has struggled against Philadelphia recently, with their last win against them being in February 2023.

The Canucks would like to make it consecutive wins tonight in their third game of a 4-game road trip and put a winning streak together to start moving up in the Pacific Division.

This game could be a close one though similar to their game in Vancouver.

Both teams have had their struggles early in the season, but the Canucks with their first win of the season against Florida on Thursday night, should have the momentum. However, the Flyers will be looking to bounce back on home ice tonight in front of the home fans.

The Canucks are still without Thatcher Demko (popliteus muscle injury) and Dakota Joshua (testicular cancer surgery recovery).

Keys For The Canucks

  • The special teams will be important, as both teams will be limiting dangerous chances 5 on 5, and goals may be difficult to score.
  • The Canucks will need to find a way to contain the Flyers’ top line, which has been their main source of offense.
  • With Demko still out, the Canucks will be relying on Kevin Lankinen and/or Arturs Silovs to provide solid goaltending tonight.
  • A strong start. Against Florida the Canucks took their game to the Panthers and it set a tone in the Canucks favor even when Florida tried a comeback.
  • Continued depth scoring and resilience in responding to pressure with pressure; countering with clutch plays to stymie the Flyers. Even a clutch goal or two would go a long way to putting another “W” in the win column.

GAME ON! GO CANUCKS!
