Canucks Announce 2022.23 Regular Season Schedule

Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today their complete 2022.23 regular season schedule, beginning with a road contest on Wednesday, October 12 against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Canucks will open the year on the road for a fourth consecutive season, having also started against the Oilers in each of the previous three occasions. Following a season-high five-game road trip to kick off the new campaign, the team will return to Rogers Arena to celebrate their home opener on Saturday, October 22 vs the Buffalo Sabres.

Marquee Matchups: 

  • The Canucks will host the Buffalo Sabres for their home opener on Saturday, October 22. It marks the first time that the two teams have squared off in Vancouver’s home opener since both clubs entered the NHL as expansion teams in 1970. 
  • Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins come to town for their annual West Coast visit, Friday, October 28
  • The storied “Original Six” Montreal Canadiens make their one and only trip to Vancouver, which always proves to be an exciting tilt, on Monday, December 5
  • The defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche make their first of two visits to Vancouver on Thursday, January 5. The teams will have previously faced off in Colorado on November 23. 
  • Two-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner and last season’s 60-goal scorer Auston Matthews marches into Rogers Arena alongside the rest of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, March 4
  • Last season’s Pacific Division-winning Calgary Flames visit Vancouver for the first of two late-season games at Rogers Arena on Friday, March 31

Fast Facts: 

  • Home to Stay: Vancouver will play a season-high nine games at home in March, including a six-game stretch for their longest homestand of the season from Thursday, March 2 until Tuesday, March 14.  
  • Back-to-Backs: The Canucks will play 13 sets of back-to-backs this season, increased from 10 in 2021.22. 
  • All-Star Weekend: The 2023 Honda NHL® All-Star Weekend will take place at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, FL, from Feb. 3-4, including the 2022 NHL All-Star Skills™ on Friday, Feb. 3, and the 2023 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Saturday, Feb. 4. Thatcher Demko represented the Canucks for his first career NHL All-Star Weekend last year in Las Vegas. 
  • Saturday Night’s Alright: The Canucks’ busiest day of the regular season is Saturday, consisting of 19 games, 11 of which will be played at home in Vancouver. 
  • Infrequent Fridays: Vancouver’s least busy day of the regular season is Friday, consisting of only six games throughout the regular season, five of which will be home games.
