KMH Budapest Dominate KEHV Lakers 9-2, Hand Them Third Loss Of EWHL Regular Season

KEHV Lakers took to the ice against KMH Budapest at Tüskesátor rink in Budapest, Hungry in EWHL 2021-2022 regular season action on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

The Lakers were playing their third game of the young season, with two previous losses against Aisulu Almaty. For KMH Budapest, their first EWHL regular season game of the season.

The visiting Lakers took the game to the host Budapest squad, opening the scoring at 3:18 on an effort by Kelsey Soccio, assisted by Haley Payne.

KMH Budapest would answer the upstart Lakers with seven straight goals in the game, starting with an equalizing goal by Hayley Williams to even the game at 1-1, at 8:35 with assist to Alexandra Huszák.

At 9:03 Rhyen McGill would give Budapest the lead that they would not relinguish, assisted by Eniko Toth and Lara Escudero.

The game would become 3-1 with under five minutes left in the opening period. Escudero, assisted by Whitney Dove and Sarah Knee at 15:14.

The second period would be more of the same from the home team as they continued their dominance of the Lakers.

Two quick goals; the first by Carly Bullock, assisted by Escudero and McGill, at 3:51. Then Regina Metzler, assisted by Knee and Sara Confidenti, 58 seconds later at 4:49, to quickly take a four goal advantage at 5-1.

Toth would get a goal for a 5 goal Budapest lead at 6-1 assisted by Huszak at 10:34, followed by Bullock with her second of the game right after that, putting them up 7-1, assisted by Dove and McGill.

The Lakers would exit the middle frame, finally responding to the Budapest offensive showing, with an unassisted goal by Anja Adamitsch, to enter the final period with Budapest up 7-2.

Two final goals by KMH Budapest in the final ten minutes of the third period; Williams from Huszak and Reka Dabasi at 11:20; Huszak, with 26 seconds remaining on the clock, from Dabasi and Williams, brought the match to a merciful end.

Bullock (2-0=2), Williams (2-1=3), McGill (1-2=3), Escudero (1-2=3) and Huszak (1-3=4) led KMH Budapest.

HC SKP Bratislava Crushes KSV Neuberg Highlanders 7-1 In EWHL Action On Saturday

HC SKP Bratislava and KSV Neuberg Highlanders played their initial games of the 2021-2022 EWHL regular season action today in Bratislava, Slovakia, with the home team easily defeating the visiting Highlanders 7-1.

The game was physical between the two teams, and penalty filled, as the two teams battled each other for scoring opportunities.

Bratislava outshot Neuberg 36-20 (14-9, 11-5, 11-6). Bratislava power play was 2 for 8; Neuberg 1 for 3 in the game.

The home team reacted first to questionable actions by the visiting squad, getting the first penalty of the game, at the two minute point of the opening period on a slash by Julia Matejkova, with Bratislava successfully killing the penalty.

Less than three minutes later, after the unsuccessful Highlanders power play, Bratislava would open the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead at 4:57. Lucia Haluskova, assisted by Nikola Nemcekova.

Lucia Istocyova would score to make it a two goal advantage at 14:56 on the power play when Nicole Vigilanti of Neuberg was penalized for charging. Assist to Livia Kubekova.

Late in the opening frame, after an unsuccessful power play, Bratislava would take control of the game at 3-0 at 19:00, Romana Haluskova, assisted by her sister Lucia.

Neuberg would score their only goal of the game, on the power play in the second period, breaking Bratislava’s shutout bid, at 2:42, with Nemcekova off for charging. Olivia Atkinson, assisted by Bieke Van Nes and Nicole Vigilanti, bringing Neuberg within two goals of the home team.

Bratislava would seal the game with four straight goals, including their second on the power play, to end the game.

Emma Plankenauerova scored the last goal of the middle frame, making it 4-1, at 12:02, assisted by Julia Matejkova.

In the third, Plankenauerova would return the favor and had the only assist on a goal by Matejkova, at 5:13, on the power play, to stake the home team a four goal margin at 5-1. Martina Vrbinska took the score one goal further, to 6-1 at 8:04, assisted by Nemcekova and Matejkova.

Romana Haluskova would cap the score at 7-1, with her second goal of the game at 17:22, assisted by her sister Lucia and teammate Ema Tothova.
