ERC Ingolstadt and KMH Budapest Get Early Victories In EWHL Super Cup Group C Play

EWHL Super Cup Group C play began today in Germany at Ingolstadt Saturn Arena in Ingolstadt, Germany amongst the teams of ERC Ingolstadt of Germany, KMH Budapest of Hungry, SH Majadahonda of Madrid, Spain and HC SKP Bratislava of Slovakia, continuing through September 19, 2021.

ERC Ingolstadt-11 vs SH Majadahonda-1

The first game of the day involved home team ERC Ingolstadt versus SH Majadahonda, and the Spanish team was little competition for the home squad in a 11-1 victory for ERC Ingolstadt.

Franziska Brendel led ERC Ingolstadt with 2 goals and 3 assists; Theresa Wagner, 1 goals and 4 assists; Nicola Eisenschmid, 2 goals and 2 assists; Tamara Lan Yee Chiu, 1 goals and 3 assists.

Ingolstadt goaltender Dominque Quint stopped 23 of 24 Majadahonda shots for a .958 Save Percentage.

The lone goal for the Madrid, Spain team was from Elena Ramos, assisted by Lucia Diaz and Maria Azahara Guerrero at 9:05 of the 2nd period.

Ingolstadt led 3-0 after the 1rst period, 9-1 after the second. Ingolstadt dominated shots the first two periods, 31-7 but the final period, Majadahonda outshot the home team 17-4, with Quint closing the door shut.

Power plays were scoreless, with Ingolstadt 0 for 2 and Majadahonda 0 for 3.

Game Report

KMH Budapest-6 vs HC SKP Bratislava-3

The favorites to move on to the next phase, KMH Budapest, battled HC SKP Bratislava edging Bratislava in a closer game than the score indicates.

KMH Budapest scored a quick goal at the 54 second mark of the game to take an early 1-0 lead before the ice was completely dry, on a goal by Carly Bullock, assisted by Whitney Dove.

Budapest would take a 2-0 lead with less than ten minutes left in the opening period on an unassisted goal by Petra Szamosfalvi at 10:59. Before the period would end, Bratislava would get within a goal at 2-1 with an unassisted goal of their own by Lucia Istocyova at 16:13. Budapest outshot Bratislava 12-9.

In the second period, more of the same from Budapest, as they would strike early with a goal at 9 seconds. Franciska Kiss-Simon, assisted by Hayley Williams, to restore a two goal edge.

Play would go back and forth until the last eight minutes of the middle frame, when both teams would find the back of the net. Alexandra Huszak scored to put Budapest up 4-1, assisted by Rebeka Unger at 12:43. Less than five minutes later, Carly Bullock would get her second goal of the game, assisted by Reka Dabasi and Eniko Toth at 17:06, to go up by 4 goals at 5-1.

Bratislava was not going lightly, and they were still competing with the favorites, and scored the final goal of the period with 2 seconds left as Ema Tothova scored the buzzer beater, to make the score 5-2, assisted by Lucia Haluskova at 19:58. Shots were the same as in the first but reversed as Bratislava outshot Budapest 12-9.

Deja Vu in third period as Budapest would again score early to begin a period, at 1:16, as Carly Bullock would complete her hat trick, with a third goal, assisted by Rhyen McGill and Lara Escudero, for a 4 goal cushion in the game.

Lucia Haluskova would get Bratislava closer at 6-3, with less than four minutes left at 16:13, unassisted, to end the scoring in the game. Both teams registered 9 shots on net, for 30 shots apiece in the game.

Budapest was 0 for 1 on the power play while Bratislava was 0 for 4 with the man advantage.
