Vancouver (12-15-2=26 pts) played the 4th game of a 5 game road trip tonight at Verizon Center against Eastern conference rivals, Washington Capitals (17-7-3=37 pts).
The Canucks concluded their 7th of 16 back-to-back series with tonight’s visit to Washington. They are 4-9-1 in back-to-backs thus far this season, after tonight.
Vancouver went for their second win of the road trip, and 5th win of the season away from Rogers Arena, while the Capitals were trying for their 7th home win in their last 9 home games.
The Canucks lost their 3rd of four on the road trip, and both of their back-to-back games on the weekend, with little or no intensity or passion, and if it wasn’t for Jacob Markstrom the score could have been a lot worse.
The Capitals had a 1-0 lead after the first, the second period was scoreless, and early in the final period, Washington went up by two goals at 2-0, and the Canucks, even with five man advantages in the game, could not manage to score on Capitals goalie Braden Holtby, and lost 3-0.
Jacob Markstrom stopped 26 of 28 shots for Vancouver, who were outshot 29-20 in the game.
Canucks, continue to remain in 6th place in the Pacific division; 3 points in front of 7th place Arizona, who have two games in hand on Vancouver.
