

EWHL’s European Cup started off its’ season a day late, with Neuchâtel Hockey Academy (NHA) on Sunday, September 12 in Germany against ECDC Memmingen.
EWHL’s European Cup was supposed to begin on Saturday, September 11 with DEC Salzburg Eagles visiting Neuchâtel Hockey Academy (NHA), but for financial reasons Salzburg canceled. The Austrians have asked to reschedule this match, but Neuchâtel will not agree to play the game in the future.
The home squad Memmingen, took a 1-0 lead after one period, outshooting the visiting NHA 13-6. Marina Swikull (F) scored, assisted by Anna-Lena Niewollik (D) and Lena Kartheininger (D) at 9:46.
In the second period, NHA would even the score at 1-1 at 5:26, Ines Berset scoring, assisted by teammates Ophélie Ryser (F) and Gwendoline Gendarme (D). Seven minutes later Gwendoline Gendarme would give NHA a 2-1 advantage at 12:26, assisted by Coralie Larose (F) and Cindy Joray (F).
With less than two minutes left in the middle frame, both teams would add goals nineteen seconds apart. Shelby Wood (D) gave NHA a two goal lead at 3-1, a helper going to Coralie Larose.
That ignited a spark for Memmingen, as they cut the difference behind to a goal at 3-2 before the middle frame ended. Savannah Rennie (F) at 18:58, assisted by Marina Swikull and Luisa Bottner (F). Memmingen outshot NHA for the second straight period, 9-6, to lead in shots 21-12 after 40 minutes of play.
The first half of the final period saw no goals but both teams made up for that in the last half of the 3rd period with four goals.
Memmingen would deadlock the game at 3-3 at 12:19 as Anna Rose scored, assisted by Antje Sabautzki (F).
The rest of the final period belonged to NHA as they would put the game away for their first EWHL SuperCup win of the season.
Coralie Larose gave NHA a 4-3 score and a lead they would not relinquish, assisted by Gendarme and Ryser, at 13:30.
One hundred seconds later, it would be 5-3 NHA, with Ophelie Ryser scoring, assisted by Amélie Jobin (F) and Marie-Pierre Pélissou (D) at 15:50.
The final goal of the game, on the power play, would make the final score 6-3 NHA, with Marie-Pierre Pelissou netting the goal, assisted by Amelie Jobin and Gendarme, at 17:19.
Shots in the 3rd period were in favor of NHA 14-7 with Memmingen outshooting NHA in the game 29-26. NHA 1 for 2 on the power play, while Memmingen was scoreless on 2 power plays.
