Neuchatel Hockey Academy Defeats Aisulu Almaty in EWHL Supercup Action 5-4 in OT

NHA Advance To EWHL Supercup Final Four Tournament in 2022, Aisulu Almaty Eliminated

In a game Aisulu Almaty had to win in regulation to claim Group B in EWHL Supercup round robin play, Neuchatel Hockey Academy tied the game 4-4 late in the 3rd period, sending the match into overtime, and winning 5-4, advancing to the EWHL Supercup Tournament of Four in 2022.

Almaty took a 3-2 lead into the final period and extended their lead to 4-2 before Neuchatel Hockey Academy started to reverse the momentum of the game and begin their comeback for the win.

The game was played in Neuchatel, Switzerland at Patinoire du Littoral. 

Neuchatel Hockey Academy (Switzerland) join EHV Sabres Vienna (Austria) and KMH Budapest (Hungary) as winners of the three groups.

The fourth team, in the tournament will be ESC Planegg (Germany), who finished ahead of Aisulu Almaty (Kazakhstan), by a single point in Group A, to get the honor of being the best second place team in Group play, and advance to the Supercup Final Four Tournament in 2022.

Aísulu Almaty To Play Neuchatel Hockey Academy November 13 In SuperCup Play

Aísulu Almaty (Kazakhstan) is playing more than 5300 kilometers from home in Neuchatel, Switzerland against Neuchatel Hockey Academy (SUI) in their last EWHL SuperCup roundrobin games to decide the winner of Group B, on November 13, 2021.

Neuchatel is in top spot in Group C, ahead of Almaty. A win would give them an automatic spot in the next round, a 4-team tournament to decide the SuperCup champion in 2022. (Note: One of Neuchatel’s games was a forfeit by DEC Salzburg Eagles, and they were credited with 3 points).

Likewise, a victory by Aísulu Almaty would propel them to tournament play for the EWHL SuperCup.

The game will be played at Patinoire du Littoral Skates at 19h00 Neuchatel time, 10 am Pacific Standard Time.

The winning team will join EHV Sabres Vienna (Austria) and KMH Budapest (Hungary). The fourth team will be the best 2nd placed team (points per game percentage, if equal then goal difference per game and if still equal then scored goals per game) which will be eligible to play in the „EWHL Supercup Final Four Tournament“.
