KHL Game Day Preview | September 23, 2022

Avangard seeking fourth straight win facing Torpedo!

After a rocky start, Avangard has finally started getting the ball rolling, with three straight wins of late. However, getting to four won’t be easy – Torpedo is also on the lookout of its fourth consecutive victory and Larionov won’t ask to his player to take it easier just because.

In the Eastern Conference, Neftekhimik welcomes Traktor. The Nizhnekamsk side had a terrible start, with eight straight losses, and is trying to shake things up with some roster moves. However, Traktor is also on a bad situation right now, with just three wins and a disappointing tenth place in the standings. Maybe tonight the Wolves will record their first win in the 2022-2023 campaign?

A showdown between HC Sochi and Spartak closes a light KHL matchday. Spartak is on an excellent shape and has just celebrated a shutout victory over Ak Bars – the Red-and-Whites are currently the second seed in the Western Conference.

KHL Game Day Preview | September 18, 2022

CSKA, SKA seeking victories on home soil!

The action-packed KHL matchday starts in Kazakhstan, with Barys hosting Sibir. The Kazakhs didn’t have a good start of the season, and also lost on Avangard on Friday. On the other hand, Sibir is currently the third force in the East and will want to keep on pushing to propel its excellent start.

The action then moves to the Urals, where a red-hot Avtomobilist hosts a slumping Neftekhimik. It may look like a one-sided matchup, but the Wolves one day will get a win, and the Nikolai Zavarukhin’s men will try not to be that team.

In the West, both CSKA and SKA hit the ice tonight with home games. The reigning Gagarin Cup champions host HC Sochi – they won 26 out of 27 games against the Black Sea franchise and it’s likely that the series will continue. SKA will have a more complicated matchup when they host Severstal. The St. Petersburg side is the only KHL team who is yet to lose a game, while Severstal is currently the sixth feed in the West. However, SKA will have to lose one day, will it be today?

Another exciting Moscow showdown sees Spartak hosting Ak Bars. The two teams are in opposite conditions – Spartak started well and slowed down, while Kazan struggled early, but is currently on a winning streak. Will Alex Radulov score another game-winner tonight?
