Canucks Scuttlebutt: September 13, 2022

Looks like things are gearing up for the 2002 Young Stars Classic in Penticton on the weekend.

Canucks Scuttlebutt, according to Chris Faber:

Don’t expect to see the Sedins behind the bench at Young Stars but they will be in Penticton but Johnson says, “they’re going to be a big part of the Young Stars around the players.”

Faber adds;

Ryan Johnson tells me that it will be the Abbotsford Canucks coaching staff running the bench at the Young Stars Tournament with the addition of one development coach per game.

Chris Higgins, Mike Komisarek and Mikael Samuelsson will rotate

On Sekeres and Price, John Shannon reported on the J. T. Miller extension negotiations by saying:

“In listening to people in #Canucks management, there was never panic… there was a pragmatic system & philosophy…this went according to plan for Jim Rutherford & Patrik Allvin.”

Elias Pettersson was on the ice today scrimmaging and met with reporters to shoot the breeze and said he was:

“Super excited. I think we improved our team. First day back was a good scrimmage. Really like the new additions.”

Sekeres & Price Show: July 4 2022 – John Shannon and Jeff Paterson

John Shannon, of the Bob McCown Podcast joined Matt and Blake to talk about busy weekend for the Vancouver Canucks and a look ahead to an even busier week in the NHL. John offered his thoughts on the Brock Boeser deal and answered our poll question, if he will live up to the expectations of the three year deal. John’s gut is that J.T. Miller will find his way back to the Rangers and who could be coming back for him. John talked about Jeremy Colliton, the Abby bench boss, and what his reputation around the league is like. He also talked about the preverbal coaching carousel and how it’s not quite as easy and old guy out, old guy in.

Jeff Paterson is back in his regular spot after the last two weeks, filling in for Blake. It was a busy weekend and plenty to chat about with Jeff. He offered his thoughts on the Brock Boeser deal and gave us an over/under on goals through the deal, and what it would take for Brock to get there. JPat talked about what he feels the Canucks organization is getting in Colliton.
