Smoke Eaters GM/Head Coach Tim Fragle Earns Multi-Year Extension

The Trail Smoke Eaters are excited to announce the contract extension of current General Manager & Head Coach Tim Fragle, on a multi-year extension through to the 2025 BCHL season!

Fragle, who is about to begin his third season behind the Smoke Eaters bench, is hoping for what might be a normal year. With an unwavering commitment to developing players and a dedication to success, Fragle’s first two seasons were far from normal as the team adjusted to natural disasters and the pandemic. Despite these unprecedented challenges, last season alone the team saw ten players earn a NCAA or Canadian College Hockey commitment, with seven of those playing college hockey this upcoming season. Fragle is also a team alumnus, having played for the Smoke Eaters from 1997-1999, before going off to college hockey himself.

“My family and I would like to thank Rich & Annie Murphy and the entire Smoke Eaters organization for this opportunity to continue as the General Manager & Head Coach of the Smoke Eaters. Our first two seasons in Trail have been far from normal in all aspects however my family and I are looking forward and excited to be a part of the Trail community with this contract extension. The ultimate goal is to build a consistent championship caliber team year after year and we are committed to do whatever it takes to accomplish this.” General Manager & Head Coach, Tim Fragle.

“The Trail Smoke Eaters are extremely proud to have a General Manager and Head Coach of Tim’s caliber. He and his family have truly embraced the City of Trail since moving here two years ago and are involved in a multitude of community programs. Tim takes pride in his work; from creating a winning culture both on and off the ice while mentoring young men in helping them become productive members of society, built on character, to investing in the development of local minor hockey players. Tim is hands down the best coach for this team and for this market, and is fully committed to deliver a BCHL Championship to the Home of Champions.” Director Of Hockey Operations, Craig Clare.

The Smoke Eaters would like to congratulate Tim and his family on his contract extension. We look forward to seeing Tim continue his hard work and dedication to developing players and bringing a BCHL Championship home to Trail!
