General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Ethan Bear completed successful shoulder surgery. Bear, injured at the 2023 IIHF World Championship, is expected to be out for 6 months.

Allvin, the Canucks and Bear have some decisions to make regarding his contract status.

According to CapFriendly:

The Canucks can either give Ethan Bear a Qualifying Offer ($2.2M) and retain his rights, not QO him and allow him to become a UFA, or sign him to an extension and then place him on LTIR until he returns in 6 months.

If he does receive a QO and signs it, they can also then place him on LTIR.

CanucksBanter Reviews This Week’s Twitter Goodies….So Far

Elias Pettersson became only the 2nd forward in the last 22 years to win the Hardest Shot competition at the 2023 NHL All-Stars Skills Competition on Friday night February 3, 2023. No stick should be flexed that hard.

Elias Pettersson and Bo Horvat pose for picture at site of 2023 NHL All-Star Game. Best Buds.

Sekeres and Price ask “Does it make sense for the Canucks to trade Thatcher Demko?” Well, so far it is a 50-50 split. WOW!

Ethan Bear update on extension talks. Burning the midnight oil.

Luke Schenn and Brock Boeser next Canucks to find new postal codes/zip codes before too long. Moving trucks on stand-by.

Bo Horvat endorses Elias Pettersson for next Canucks Captain. No truth to rumour that endorsement fueling dissention in locker room. Locker room empty this week.

Canucks Management confused where Thatcher Demko trade talk speculation coming from after clearly making no player protected from the rebuild…retooling…house cleaning….whatever they are doing exactly.

Until next time be happy and stay well.
