Not many goals scored in this game today but plenty of action including overtime to settle the victor of the match.

The goals that were scored were either early or late in a period, but no goals were scored in the opening period of the game, as both goalies shut the door for a 0-0 score.

Salzberg Eagles goalie Carmen Lasis distinguished herself right from the opening faceoff, and served notice with her focus, composure and poise, she was not going to be beaten easily, stopping 15 Memmingen shots. Her counterpart, Carina Bartsch of only had to stop 5 Salzberg shots.

At 2:20 of the 2nd period, Salzberg would get on the scoreboard on a goal by Annika Fazokas, assisted by Annelise Rice, to take a slim 1-0 lead. Luisa Bottner broke Lasis’s shutout bid at 18:12 to tie the game at 1-1, assisted by Marina Swikull and Savannah Rennie.

The game would go into sudden death overtime, with only a three minute break and no ice flood.

Only two shots would be taken in the overtime before a winner was crowned and it did not take long.

Salzburg’s Annika Fazokas would do her home fans proud, scoring the overtime winner, her second goal of the game, at the 2:19 mark of OT, assisted by Marja Linzbichler.
