Pre-game
* Tampa Bay has forced a Game 7 after facing a 3-1 series deficit once in franchise history, doing so against Pittsburgh in the 2011 Conference Quarterfinals before earning a 1-0 victory in the winner-take-all showdown to advance. Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman appeared in all seven contests during that series.

* The Maple Leafs will have another opportunity to advance as the First Round shifts back to AMALIE Arena, where they earned consecutive overtime wins to take a 3-1 series lead. Toronto can earn wins in each of its first three road games in a postseason for the fifth time in franchise history (also 5-0 in 1951, 5-0 in 1949, 4-0 in 1977 & 3-0 in 2001).

* The Maple Leafs can become the first team to snap a streak of eight-plus consecutive series losses since the Islanders did so against the Panthers in Game 6 of the 2016 First Round, when current Toronto captain John Tavares tallied the double-overtime clincher. The Maple Leafs, whose last series-clinching win was versus the Senators in Game 7 of the 2004 Conference Quarterfinals, can also end their 0-11 skid in potential closeout games since then – that marks the second longest such drought in NHL history.

Most consecutive losses in potential series-clinching games, NHL history:

  • 13 – Coyotes/Jets (1990–2012)
  • 11 – Maple Leafs (2013–Present)
  • 8 – Bruins (1931–1939)
  • 7 – Flames (1991–2004)
  • 7 – Penguins (1975–1979)
  • 7 – Canadiens (1937–1942)

Pre-game
* Chris Kreider (15-4—19 in 27 GP) needs one goal to tie the NHL record for most in potential elimination games, which is held by former Rangers captain Mark Messier (16-12—28 in 24 GP). Messier had three of his 16 against New Jersey in Game 6 of the 1994 Conference Finals when he famously delivered on his guarantee that New York would earn a win.

Akira Schmid can become the second goaltender in franchise history with wins in four consecutive appearances at any point in a playoff year, joining Martin Brodeur (6x; last: 4-0 in 2012). Four of Brodeur’s six streaks were in postseasons where New Jersey won the Stanley Cup.

Anze Kopitar (7-9—16 in 13 GP) has 16 career points in potential elimination games, which are tied with Wayne Gretzky (8-8—16 in 10 GP) for second place in franchise history behind Luc Robitaille (9-13—22 in 18 GP).

* Evan Bouchard (2-5—7 in 5 GP) needs one power-play point to tie the NHL record for most by a defenseman in a playoff series, a mark shared by Denis Potvin (8 in 1981 QF & 1980 SCF), John Carlson (8 in 2018 R1) and Paul Coffey (8 in 1993 DSF).
