The ZSC Lions are reacting to the injury-related absence of Justin Azevedo and have signed forward Juho Lammikko. The 26-year-old Finn joins the Zett on a one-year contract.
The two-time A world champion with Finland Juho Lammikko can be used both as a wing and as a center. Lammikko played 75 games for the Vancouver Canucks in the NHL last season (15 points).
“At 1.90 meters, Juho is a tall player and a good runner who can put opponents under pressure with his speed. He’s strong in the faceoff, a predestined boxplay player and he doesn’t just go where it hurts in the powerplay. His qualities are important to us, especially since Justin Azevedo isn’t about to return anytime soon,” said sporting director Sven Leuenberger.
The 2014 Florida Panthers third-round draft has played 159 NHL games for Florida and Vancouver (26 points).
Lammikko’s other positions included the KHL with Metallurg Magnitogorsk (22 games, eight scorer points) and the best Finnish league with Ässät Pori and Kärpät Oulu (82 games, 54 scorer points).
With the Finnish national team, Juho Lammikko won the gold medal at both the 2016 U20 World Cup and the 2019 and 2022 Senior World Cup.
Juho Lammikko will wear shirt number 83 with the ZSC Lions.
