Vancouver Defeats Maple Leafs Again, Takes Third Win Of Four Game Road Trip 6-4 Over Maple Leafs

The Vancouver Canucks head back to the West Coast after taking 3 of 4 road games on their East Coast road trip, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs for the second time in three weeks 6-4 on Saturday night, sweeping their season series two games to none.

Canucks scored three unanswered goals in the 3rd period, after giving up a 3-1 lead in the second period, and the Maple Leafs scoring three straight goals to end the middle period leading 4-3.

Tanner Pearson scored the 4-4 goal; Alex Chiasson the 5-4 winning goal; and Tyler Motte the 6-4 insurance marker into an empty net.

Brock Boeser (1-1=2), Travis Hamonic (1-1=2), Tanner Pearson (1-1=2), J.T. Miller (1-1=2), Bo Horvat (0-2=2) spearheaded the Vancouver offense.

Vasily Podkolzin, Elias Pettersson, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Quinn Hughes, Tyler Myers and Brad Hunt chipped in with assists.

Thatcher Demko stood tall in net against the potent Maple Leaf offense in a full team winning effort on the road.

Demko stopped 34 of 38 shots, 33 of 36 at even strength, for an .895 save percentage (SV%).

Vancouver begins a 7-game homestand on March 9 against the Montreal Canadiens, followed by the following games:

  • Washington Capitals on March 11
  • Tampa Bay Lightning on March 13
  • New Jersey Devils on March 15
  • Detroit Red Wings on March 17
  • Calgary Flames on March 19
  • Buffalo Sabres on March 20
