Trail British Columbia native Erin McLean scored 3 goals and added an assist for her professional Hockey club Aisulu Almaty in Kazakhstan Women’s Hockey Championship 2021-2022 action today.
Her hat trick came in Aisulu’s 19-0 win over Bars (Almaty region).
McLean now has 5 goals, 3 assists in three games this week in Round 1 action of the Championship series.
McLean plays professional women’s hockey for Aisulu Almaty in the European Women’s Hockey League. And Aisulu Almaty plays in the Kazakh Women’s Hockey League, Kazakhstan’s professional women’s league.
Born in Trail B.C., she has both Canadian and Kazakhstan citizenship.
She recently played in Round 2 of the Olympic pre-qualification for Kazakhstan that took place from October 7-10, in Torre Pellice in Italy, in Group G with Kazakhstan finishing in third place in the group.
Aisulu is undefeated in their three games this week (10-1 against Torpedo; 23-1 against Zhuldyz; 19-0 against Bars) and face also undefeated Tomiris tomorrow in both their final games of round 1, at 14:20 Kazakhstan Time on October 30, 13 hours ahead PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) which is 1:20 am and will be streamed live on Insports.
BACKGROUND ON CHAMPIONSHIP
The first round of the Kazakhstan Women’s Hockey Championship started October 26 and concludes October 30, 2021 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
This year, five teams competing for the prizes of QyzdarLigasy: “Aisulu”, “Zhuldyz” (both – Almaty), “Tomiris” (Nur-Sultan), “Torpedo” (Ust-Kamenogorsk) and “Bars” (Almaty region).
The first round of the championship is being hosted by the southern capital, Almaty. The matches are being held on the training ground of the Sports Palace named after Baluan Sholak.

The Kazakh Women’s Hockey League is the national women’s ice hockey competition in Kazakhstan. Aisulu Almaty has dominated the league, having won the championship every season it has been contested since 2012-13.
