EWHL Regular Season Game Results: October 3, 2021

Budapest Jegkorong Academia -2 at Silesian Metropolis Katowice-5

The game was the second of a two game weekend between the two clubs, the first game on Saturday, a 2-1 Overtime win by the home team Silesian Metropolis Katowice.

As the above score indicates, Katowice was inspired by their overtime victory of the previous day, taking that momentum to the ice in Bytom, Poland on Sunday.

Katowice wasted little time, and quickly got on the scoreboard at 1:23 on a goal by Olivia Tomczok; assists to Wiktoria Gogoc and Ida Talanda, for a 1-0 lead.

The score would get tied at 1-1 at 9:51, as Budapest’s Aliz Schmidt-Natkay would move the netting, assists to Mercedesz Imets and Lara Strobl.

The home team would close out the opening period with two consecutive goals. Witkoria Dziwok, unassisted at 13:11, to retake the advantage at 2-1. Ewelina Czarnecka would conclude the first period scoring at 15:13 with a power play goal; assists to Karolina Pozniewska and Joanna Strzelecka, upping the score to 3-1.

The second period was scoreless, with shots after the first two periods 25-10 Katowice (7-13, 3-12).

In the third period, Budapest JA pulled within a goal at 3-2 on a goal by Luca Martron at 6:48. Assist to Maja Horvath.

With less than six minutes left in the game, the home team would put some distance between themselves and Budapest JA, with an insurance goal, regaining a two goal lead at 4-2, when Sylwia Laskawska scored an unassisted goal at 14:19.

Less than five minutes later, Katowice put the game to bed. Tomczok, who opened the scoring in the game, potted her second, and the last goal of the game, at 19:03. Assists to Laskawska and Strzelecka.

Shots were 34-16 Katowice (7-13, 3-12, 6-9). Katowice was 1 for 6 on the power play, Budapest 0 for 5.

Olivia Tomczok (2-0=2), Sylwia Laskawska (1-1=2), and Joanna Strzelecka (0-2=2) led Katowice with two points each.
