Michael Garteig, Quinnipiac hockey’s all-time wins leader, earns first professional victory

PENTICTON, BC — Former Quinnipiac University star Michael Gartieg has started out strong in his professional career, earning a win and racking up 28 saves for the Vancouver Canucks in the team’s 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in the Young Stars Classic.
The Young Stars Classic is an opportunity for prospects to show their stuff over six games from September 16-19. Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg are participating in this year’s event.
Garteig signed a one-year, entry level contract with the Canucks on April 29.
As a Bobcat, Garteig won 69 career games and helped propel Quinnipiac to the 2016 national championship game against North Dakota. He also won 78 games and posted a 1.98 goals against average. Garteig refelcted on his first professional start on the Vancouver Canucks Twitter account:
