Roster set for Canucks’ Young Stars tournament

Defensemen Jordan Subban and Ashton Sautner and forwards Cole Cassels, Joe LaBate and Curtis Valk are among those on the roster who spent time an extended period with Utica last season.

Overall, the 28-man roster consists of 14 players selected by the Canucks in the last three NHL drafts including highly-touted goaltender Thatcher Demko, a Hobey Baker candidate last season at Boston College, who turned pro in the spring.

Of the six draft picks made in the 2016 draft, five will take part in the tournament, including fifth overall draft pick Olli Juolevi. Seven of the players on the Young Stars roster are invitees.

Teams from the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets also are participating in the training camp and tournament.
