VIRTANEN IN THE HOUSE

On Wednesday, Canucks General Manager, Jim Benning, sent former sixth overall draft pick, Jake Virtanen, to the Comets for assignment.

Virtanen, 20, has appeared in 10 games with the Canucks this season registering an assist (0-1-1) along with two penalty minutes, but has run afoul of Canucks management over his lack of production, intensity and passion.

Virtanen last played for the Comets in two games on a conditioning assignment.

SUBBAN SIZZLING

Jordan Subban is enjoying a five-game point streak that has him knocking on the AHL leaderboard for goals (4), power-play goals (3) and points per game (1.22) by a defenseman.

Subban’s highlights include four multi-points games in the first 9 games of the season.

COMET’S POWER PLAY ON FIRE

Unlike the the NHL Vancouver Canucks, according to the Comets website, the Utica power play, has been red hot to start the season and is ranked seventh in the league, scoring a power-play goal in four straight games entering their game tonight.
