Dynamo Minsk lost their opening game of the KHL season on Friday, September 3 by three goals, 4-1 to Dynamo Moscow.

Dynamo Minsk was looking for a different result today, against Severstal Cherepovets in a West conference meeting.

Ex-Canuck Tyler Graovaz led the way with 2 assists, 8 shots and a plus/minus of +3 in 18:44 time on ice, as Dynamo Minsk evened up their season record at 1-1 with a 4-1 win.

Graovaz was also 12 for 19: 63.2 percent in face-offs today, after being 9 for 18 in the first game on the season.

So far this season, Graovaz is getting plenty of minutes of play, which is obviously paying off for himself and the team, as he logged 18:44 in the game today, after playing 18:51 on Friday.

He was selected the second star of the game for his efforts Sunday.

Lucas Bengtsson (1), Denis Mosalev (2), Ilya Usov (1) and Dmitry Buinitsky (1) scored for Dynamo Minsk, while Daniil Vovchenko (1) had the lone goal for Severstal.

Game 3 stars were: Lucas Bengtsson, Tyler Graovaz and Daniil Vovchenko.

Summary

In the meeting between the losers of the start of the championship – Severstal and Minsk Dynamo – the Cherepovets seemed to have more advantages. They played on home ice and had one more rest day. Meanwhile, at the start of the meeting, the guests showed much greater zeal, and by the fifth minute they won with a score of 2: 0.

The score was opened by the rookie Dynamo Lukas Bengtsson , and then Denis Mosalev , who in the first game became the author of the only goal against Dynamo Moscow, continued to gain points.

In comparison with the last game, Andrei Razin made only a couple of substitutions in the lineup, and both concerned the Belarusians – goalkeeper Konstantin Shostak , who played well against SKA, gave way to Dmitry Shugaev ; in addition, the long-established duet of Vladislav Kodola and Daniil Vovchenko was torn apart .

However, Shostak noticed Shugaev for two missed goals, and Vovchenko proved that he could score without Kodola. In the middle of the first period, he converted the majority, thus celebrating his 300th match in the KHL.

In the second period, which went without deletions, Ilya Usov scored the third goal.

In the third segment, Dynamo proved that the best defense is attack, and supported the fast hockey proposed by the hosts. In the end, Dmitry Buinitsky scored into an empty net, setting the final score.

Dynamo Minsk outshot Severstal 26-25. Dynamo Minsk goalie was Patrick Ribar. Severstal goalies were Konstantin Shostak and Dmitry Shugaev.
