InGoal Radio Podcast: Episode 173 – With Marko Torenius and Baur Mach Sticks

The secret behind Igor Shesterkin’s success? A young Tuukka Rask training with Tae Kwon Do in the offseason? The evolution of Finnish goaltending?

We get into it all in Episode 173 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, with goalie coach Marko Torenius.

In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Torenius breaks down the rise of Shesterkin, who he worked with in the KHL for more than five seasons alongside fellow goalie coach Rashit Davydov, and shares insights and anecdotes from 25 seasons as a goalie coach in Finland and Russia, including the differences in how each country trains goalies.

Torenius also shares thoughts from his work updating the Finnish curriculum last season, and his annual off-season work with a deep list of Finnish NHL goalies, including Ville Husso, Mikko Koskinen and Joonas Korpisalo.

Marko Torenius was also named as Goaltending Development Coach and Goaltending Coach of the Abbotsford Canucks on August 2, 2022.

All that, plus a trip to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a look at the new Bauer Mach sticks.

InGoal Radio Podcast: With Thatcher Demko – Sept. 10, 2021

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Episode 136 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a lengthy interview with Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko.

In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, may be our most in-depth yet, as Demko digs into the specific technical changes he has made over the past three seasons since he began working with Canucks goaltending coach Ian Clark.

He also talks about why he went to bat so hard and so publicly for a Clark contract extension, his evolving mindset, and the role it played in his 2020 playoff bubble breakthrough, important lessons from Jacob Markstrom two seasons ago and Braden Holtby last season, and how he’s prepared for what is to come: His first full season as a No. 1, playing in front of fans again, the Canucks radical makeover and push for the playoffs, and hopefully a spot on Team USA for the 2022 Olympics.

All that, plus a trip back to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a breakdown at the new, incredibly light True Catalyst AX9 (and second price point AX5) sticks.
