Italian Hockey League, the second round begins

 19 Nov 2021 hockeywords.com

(Fisg press release) – The second  round of the first phase in IHL begins, with five extremely interesting matches and expectations to try to give a greater definition to a ranking still open to any solution.  Four matches are scheduled on Saturday and one Sunday, with Como already planning to play this match against Fiemme at the Agora in Milan and now will have to figure out how to continue the season. In fact, during the week the news of the closure of the Casate ice rink arrived for technical checks on the structure, the Larians are farm teams with the Bears so they could train and play at the Agora for now but it will be necessary to evaluate the situation well while waiting for information about their home building.

The leaders Unterland awaited at the Alleghe test: the Agordinis travel with six victories in a row

The big match of the day is also the first on the calendar: at 18.30 the leaders Unterland receives the Alleghe, that is the team in the best form in the championship. Race with impossible predictions in Egna, where the Cavaliers are returning from the net 7-0 on Como.

Best attack and best defense of the championship are figures that say a lot about this Unterland team, an extremely cynical and cold side sill, as well as capable of practically never offering the side to the opponents. To see, after the shutout of Pallabazzer, who will be deployed between the posts in a role in which Steiner and Giovanelli had alternated up to now. It will therefore take a feat for the Alleghe, fresh from six wins in a row, to keep the streak open.

The owls are having an absolutely golden moment, with the growth of Scola between the posts and to lead a team that is already the surprise of the season. The two foreigners Berger and Kiviranta are well integrated, the Alleghe is also collecting a lot from its clubs: attention to the moment of Edgar De Toni, a very hot cue and the best Venetian scorer with 8 goals. Complete squad for Alessandro Fontana, who will therefore be able to field all his players in the challenge at the top.

The Lucci await the Ice Bears for a less obvious derby than expected

At 19.30 the Caldaro returns to the track, stopped last week for the postponement with Pergine: the Lucci receive the Dobbiaco. Coach Barnes’s team presents itself to the appointment in excellent condition, fresh from two consecutive victories with 11 goals scored.

Clearly, if the team from Bassa Atesina finds continuity in attack, it is difficult to stop given its defensive solidity and the level of goalkeepers.

There are no other objectives than the full victory for this Caldaro, determined to stay in the very highest areas of the ranking. Dobbiaco will come after the success on penalties obtained over Varese, a victory that came thanks above all to the sensational saves of Burzacca: the expert goalie of the Pusterese is showing all his value with a beautiful series of matches, while in front, even if with a little effort, his companions show organization and cynicism. The first leg won the pikes 5-4, now Dobbiaco will also look for a small revenge.

Appiano receives Brixen in another South Tyrolean derby of the day

At the same time, the rear of Appiano will receive Bressanone in the second South Tyrolean derby of the day. The pirates are paying the price of having a very young roster with many defeats but, in no case, have they been compliant towards the opponents.

Even in Alleghe’s last stop despite enormous pressure, the owls managed to pass only in the second half of the match, a symptom of how the Gialloblù still have an interesting game system and two valuable goalkeepers like Gasser and Paller. An effective test will be needed, especially in attack, to win against a Bressanone who a week ago engaged Fiemme for a long time.

The Falcons seem to have returned to the solid and combative ones of the beginning of the season, with a very stinging attack. Perhaps something to be recorded in defense, but the Brissinesi have all the possibilities to aim for success and get closer to the big in the standings.

Fiemme away to Milan against Como

Speaking of big, the second Fiemme will be engaged in Milan against Como. For the “hosts” the week was marked by important off-track issues, so as written at the beginning, it is necessary to find serenity and stability for an environment that is experiencing one of the best seasons in recent years. The 7-0 with Unterland came against a too superior rival, but so far Massimo Da Rin’s team has shown that they are able to compete against all their peers. Even the Fiemme on paper would be out of this discourse, but by focusing on a match with a low goal content this Como can look for the coup.

Clearly, the people of Trentino have an obligation to push right away to secure the three points, which on paper are widely within reach. The last victory in Bressanone showed a Vinatzer in great shape, scoring three decisive goals, in addition to the usual relentless Roupec in the power play phase. Erwin Kostner continues his work with a group that is increasingly finding stability and solidity for the decisive stages of the championship. To get there in the best possible way you also need to go through away matches like this one of the Agora.

The match between Varese and Pergine is also played in Milan but on Sunday

The only challenge on Sunday, again at the Milan plant, will be Varese-Pergine. The Mastiffs managed to move the rankings in the last round, given the point won with Dobbiaco, but they struggle too much to realize the opportunities. Both against the Icebears and against Fiemme, the last two matches at home, despite a lot of chances to score, only 4 goals arrived: it is difficult to win if the defense struggles on the other half of the track, especially in numerical inferiority.

On paper, the talent would not be lacking at Varese, but too many times the team has failed to express itself at its best, even in games where it has bombed the cages of others. The match with Pergine will be a good test, given that the Trentino are a team that aims very high in the standings.

After the week off (return to Caldaro),Andrea Ambrosi’s troops present themselves at the Agora to win and cancel the defeat suffered by the Alleghe in the last exit, so as to immediately return to contact with the noble parts of the ranking. The weapons to do well are all there, starting with a first offensive line that found in Davide Conci what is perhaps the most ruthless striker of the whole IHL. Between the poles Rigoni is able to offer excellent matches to say the least, so the lynxes will go hunting for the full post.

(HCB press release) – After the Champions Hockey League match, and awaiting their return to Finland on Wednesday 24 November, HCB Alto Adige Alperia is preparing to return to the ice of the ICE Hockey League.

On Friday 19 November, at 7.45 pm, the Foxes will see it in an already sold-out Intercable Arena in the HC Val Pusteria den.

It will be the second South Tyrolean derby after the historic “first time” in the ICE Hockey League on October 26: at that juncture it was the red and white who won 2 to 1, thanks to Di Perna’s goal in the third half, at the end of a match fought until the final siren. For Bolzano it was the first of four consecutive victories, for the Wolves instead the seventh KO in a row, which later became 10.

The gialloneri in the meantime have changed a lot, including the coach: the Finnish Raimo Helminen has arrived in place of Luciano Basile. Val Pusteria put up to the ten-game losing streak on Tuesday evening, winning at home 3 to 2 against Graz, and is still trying to get out of the bottom spot.

Leading the scorers’ ranking in the Giallonera home is Johan Harju, who reached 16 points (5 + 11) in 17 games played. In goal Thomas Sholl saves with 91.7%.

The match will be broadcast in live pay-per-view streaming on the website https://live.ice.hockey.

On Sunday 21 November, at 18:00, the Foxes will return to Palaonda for the match against Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The two teams will clash for the second time this season: last October 1st, at Linz AG Eisarena, Angelo Miceli with his overtime goal had closed the dispute at 4 to 3.

Linz, currently in penultimate place in the standings, he is recovering and has just returned from two consecutive victories, the last of which on Tuesday at the home of Fehervar second in the class.

The presale for the match is already active online and will also be held at the Palaonda on Friday from 16:00 to 19:00 (in the office) and Sunday from 11:00 to 13:00 (at the cash desks).

Casa Bolzano
Bernard and his team mates are back from five victories in their last six league games. Before the break, an internal success on penalties against Villach arrived: the Foxes want to consolidate their fourth place in the standings and run after the leading trio made up of Olimpija, Fehervar and Innsbruck.

At the roster level there will be no news with respect to CHL’s match against Lukko, except for the return of Dan Catenacci (disqualified in the international competition). Marco Insam still in the pits due to injury.

The withdrawal of Bratislava and the new classification of the ICE Hockey League

The board of the ICE Hockey League has accepted the request to withdraw the iClinic Bratislava Capitals, after the tragic events that led to the death of the player Boris Sadecy and of GM Dusan Pasek.

The league, to take into account the games played and to create greater safety in the event of further matches to be canceled due to Covid, has decided to create from here on a ranking that will take into account first and foremost the average points.

The placements, therefore, will be adjusted on the basis of the coefficient deriving from the division between points made and games played (rounded to three digits after the comma). To access the playoffs or pre-playoffs, it will be necessary to have played at least 80% of the playable games.

The assignment of points does not change: 3 for those who win in regular time, zero for those who lose, 2 for those who win in overtime or penalties, 1 for those who lose in overtime or penalties.

The statistics of the teams and players in the matches played against Bratislava will remain valid. At the bottom of this press release the updated ranking.
