EWHL SuperCup Group C
EWHL Super Cup Group C play continued today in Germany at Ingolstadt Saturn Arena in Ingolstadt, Germany amongst the teams of ERC Ingolstadt of Germany, KMH Budapest of Hungry, SH Majadahonda of Madrid, Spain and HC SKP Bratislava of Slovakia, and will continue through tomorrow, September 19, 2021.
HC SKP Bratislava-12 vs SH Majadahonda-0
SM Majadahonda from Madrid, Spain were rocked for a second straight game in Group C play, as they were soundly defeated 12-0 by HC SKP Bratislava today.
The goals started early for Bratislava and often in the first period as they posted a 7-0 lead in the opening frame.
Bratislava would add three more goals in the 2nd period, and two more goals in the 3rd period to complete the one-sided match. The Slovakian team outshot the Madrid squad 56-11 (17-1, 20-6, 19-4).
Bratislava had two goal games from Lucia Istocyova, Nikola Nemcekova, Lucia Haluskova and Emma Plankenaerova. Single goals from Roman Haluskova, Emilia Leskovjanska, Tatiana Korenkova and Hana Fancovicova.
Ema Tothova led Bratislava with 4 assists for 4 points. Other 4 point games came from Romana Haluskova (1-3), Tatiana Korenkova (1-3) and Fancovicova (1-3). Istocyova and Nemcekova had 3 points each (2-1).
Nicola Zimkova stopped all 11 shots she faced for her first win and shutout in EWHL SuperCup play this season.
KMH Budapest-4 vs ERC Ingolstadt-2
The EWHL SuperCup Group C favorites, KMH Budapest, battled ERC Ingolstadt to the second of three days of EWHL SuperCup play, and the game was similar in the play to their opening game of the weekend against HC SKP Bratislava.
KMH Budapest scored a quick goal at 2:44 of the opening period, Hayley Williams unassisted to take a 1-0 lead.
Ingolstadt would get on the scoreboard at the 16:35 mark of the period on a goal by Jule Schiefer, assists going to Nicola Eisenschmid and Tanja Eisenschmid.
Minutes before the first period would end Budapest regained the lead with Carly Bullock scoring, assisted by Lara Escudero and Rhyen McGill, to make it 2-1 after a period.
There was no scoring in the middle frame, as neither team could move the goal netting.
The shots after the first two periods were just as close as the game, 15-13 in favor of KMH Budapest.
In the 3rd period, the goalies continued to be stingy but in the final 15 minutes of the final frame that would change.
Alexandra Huszak would take it upon herself to give Budapest some breathing room and insurance by scoring two consecutive goals in 5:02, both assisted by Hayley Williams, to make it 4-1; the first goal at 5;38 and her second at 10:40.
Ingolstadt would try as they could to jump start their offense and late in the period, they scored with the man advantage to pull within two goals, at 4-2. Lena Dusterhoft at 17:53, assisted by Theresa Wagner and Celina Haider. And that would finish the scoring.
Budapest outshot Ingolstadt in the game 24-20. Ingolstadt 1 for 4 on the power play while Budapest was 0 for 4.
Hayley Williams led KMH Budaest with 3 points (1-2), followed by Alexandra Huszak with 2 points (2-0). Williams led Budapest with a +3 plus/minus while nine other players registered at least a +1. For Ingolstadt, six players had a single point.
Goalie Dominque allowed 4 goals on 24 shots for Ingolstadt while goaltender Zsofia Toth of Budapest surrendered 2 goals on 20 shots.

EWHL SuperCup Group A
MAC Budapest-3 vs ESC Planegg-6
EWHL Super Cup Group A play began today with a game between MAC Budapest and ESC Planegg in Budapest, Hungry at Kisstadion Arena.
The two teams played a close and tight opening period with only three penalties called, which included each team being given penalties for too many men on the ice. Shots were close at 13-12 in favor of MAC Budapest.
Planegg opened the scoring at 3:56 of the first period, Kirsten Spielberger, assisted by Julia Zorn, for a 1-0 score.
MAC Budapest would get on the scoresheet 1:34 later on the power play, to even the game up at 1-1. Fanni Garát-Gasparics at 5:30, assist going to Kathryn Louise Kennedy.
In the second period, Fanni Garát-Gasparics would score her second consecutive goal to put MAC Budapest out in front 2-1, at 4:26, assisted by Jelena Grkovic.
ESC Planegg would tie the game and regain the lead in the final five minutes of the middle frame with unanswered goals. Sarah Kubiczek evened up the game at 2-2, assisted by Celine Mayer and Julia Zorn at 15:26. Then with 63 seconds left in the period, Julia Zorn would put Planegg up by a goal at 3-2 at 18:57, assist going to Katie Stelling.
ESC Planegg led in shots after two periods 26-19.
Planegg continued in the final frame where they left off in the second period, with their third unanswered goal in a row, taking their lead to 4-2 at 4:06, on a goal by Kathrin Lehmann, on the power play, assisted by Franziska Feldmeier.
Planegg would make it a three goal lead at 5-2, with less than three minutes left in the game, at 18:34 by Julia Zorn, assisted by Alicia Williams.
After four consecutive goals by ESC Planegg, MAC Budapest got back on the scoresheet on a goal by Tamara Gondos 22 seconds later at 18:56 to make it 5-3 Planegg. Assisted by Zsófia Pázmándi and Alexandra Ronai.
Katharina Gerstmeir capped off the game for Planegg, on an unassisted marker, with 10 seconds left in the match to end the game with a 6-3 final score.

EWHL SuperCup Group B
DEC Salzberg Eagles-2 vs ECDC Memmingen-1 OT
EWHL Super Cup Group B play continued today with a game between DEC Salzberg Eagles and ECDC Memmingen at Eisarena Salzburg in Salzberg, Austria.
Not many goals scored in this game today but plenty of action including overtime to settle the victor of the match.
The goals that were scored were either early or late in a period, but no goals were scored in the opening period of the game, as both goalies shut the door for a 0-0 score.
Salzberg Eagles goalie Carmen Lasis distinguished herself right from the opening faceoff, and served notice with her focus, composure and poise, she was not going to be beaten easily, stopping 15 Memmingen shots. Her counterpart, Carina Bartsch of only had to stop 5 Salzberg shots.
At 2:20 of the 2nd period, Salzberg would get on the scoreboard on a goal by Annika Fazokas, assisted by Annelise Rice, to take a slim 1-0 lead. That was the lone goal of the middle frame, with Memmingen continuing to plaster the Eages goalie, Carmen Lasis with shots; Memmingen with an 33-12 edge in shots entering the final period of regulation play.
The final period was not for the faint of heart, especially Salzberg, as Memmingen continued bombarding the Eagles with shots, keeping the majority of the play in the Salzberg end, as the home team was generating little offense and the visitors desperately wanted to even the score.
With Carmen Lasis trying to keep the door closed on Memmingen, and her teammates trying to protect a one goal lead, time was running out but with 1:48 left in the third, Memmingen slid a shot past the Salzberg goaltender to even the game up at 1-1, with an opportunity to pull out a victory in regulation play.
Luisa Bottner broke Lasis’s shutout bid at 18:12 to tie the game at 1-1, assisted by Marina Swikull and Savannah Rennie.
The game would go into sudden death overtime, with only a three minute break and no ice flood.
Only two shots would be taken in the overtime before a winner was crowned and it did not take long.
Salzburg’s Annika Fazokas would do her home fans proud, scoring the overtime winner, her second goal of the game, at the 2:19 mark of OT, assisted by Marja Linzbichler.
Memmingen dominated the game in shots, out shooting Salzburg 46-17. Both teams scoreless on the power play, each going 0 for 3.
