EHV Sabres Vienna took to the ice against DEC Salzburg Eagles in EWHL 2021-2022 regular season action on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
The Sabres were playing their fourth game of the young season, starting the season with three previous consecutive wins, all by shutouts, against Silesian Metropolis Katowice (both games by 7-0 scores), on September 11-12; and KSV Neuberg Highlanders, 6-0 on September 26.
For DEC Salzburg Eagles, they entered their third game of the regular season, their first two games of the season overtime victories over Budapest Jegkorong Akademia 1-0 and 2-1, on September 25-26.
The Sabres scored three goals in each of the first and second periods, adding one final goal in the third period.
Tatum Skaggs led the Sabres with a natural hat trick, and adding an assist for a 4 point game, including a plus/minus of +4.
Kayla Nielsen had a pair of goals (2-0=2), with singles from Kinga Jokai-Szilagi (1-2=3) and Laura Kraus (1-0=1). Anna Hanser had 3 points (0-3=3) and a plus/minus of +5; while Jokai-Szilagi, Nielsen, and Karolina Hengelmuller, each had a plus/minus of +3.
Salzburg were outshot 13-46 (7-13, 3-16, 3-17). Power plays were 0 for 5 for the Sabres and 0 for 1 for Salzburg.
Selma Luggin and Anna Scharmitzer shared the goaltending duties for the Sabres with Luggin playing the first 34:36, stopping 10 shots; and Scharmitzer the balance of regulation play, stopping 3 shots. Salzburg goalie Carmen Lasis played the entire game, stopping 39 of 46 shots she faced.
